You should understand who your target audience is before you start writing, so you can write content that resonates with them. It will also help you to find out how you can best market your personal brand to them.
Tip 3 – Understand What Makes You and Your Work Different
Let’s face it, it’s a pretty crowded market out there. You need to understand what your ‘USP’ is. That’s another marketing term for ‘unique selling point’. In other words, why should potential readers connect with you or your work? How are you different? What are your strengths?
Tip 4 – Consider all the Elements of Your Brand
Your personal brand includes anything that influences people’s perception of you. It’s not just your personality or the way you look, dress or interact with other people (both in person and on your social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter). For example, it can also be reflected in the design of your website or your books, including the different colours and fonts you use.
Tip 5 – Work at it
Your personal brand isn’t something you can ‘set and forget’. Think of your personal brand as your ongoing relationship with your readers and potential readers. Like any relationship, it will be something you’ll need to continually develop and nurture. That takes time and requires and ongoing commitment from you.

There are no geographic boundaries anymore. You have plenty of online personal branding opportunities, whether it be via regular social media posts, web updates, email marketing or blog articles. Take advantage of them all to let your readers know what’s happening with you and your work.
